At the tender age of 21, Hernan achieved a remarkable milestone, becoming not only New York City's but also the East Coast's first-ever "Youngest Musical Director of a Mariachi Band." His passion for Mariachi, deeply rooted in his Mexican heritage, led him to graduate from the City University of New York (CUNY) Hunter College with a Bachelor's in Music Performance and History, preparing himself not just musically but also the culture of Mariachi.
In less than three years since its inception, Mariachi Hidalgo, under Hernan's direction, graced iconic stages, sharing the spotlight with famous artists such as "Los Tigres del Norte," "Gregorio Pernia (El TITI)," Andrew Schulz, and many more. Their melodic presence filled the halls of Madison Square Garden, resonated on Fox News, Telemundo, and adorned the pages of magazines and movie sets, making an indelible mark on the Mariachi scene.
As a first-generation musician and a Mexican born in the heart of New York City, Hernan faced unique challenges and adversities. Yet, his unwavering commitment to preserving the authentic Mariachi music allowed him to triumph over obstacles, paving the way for a revival of Mariachi's true essence.
Hernan's mission transcends the stage; it is a commitment to inspire and motivate the youth to carry forward the rich and authentic tradition of Mariachi. A la edad de 21 años, Hernán logró un hito notable: se convirtió no sólo en el primer "director musical más joven de una banda de mariachis" de la ciudad de Nueva York sino también de la costa este. Su pasión por el Mariachi, profundamente arraigada en su herencia mexicana, lo llevó a graduarse de Hunter College de la City University of New York (CUNY) con una Licenciatura en Musica e Historia, preparándose no solo musicalmente sino también en la cultura del Mariachi.
En menos de tres años, el Mariachi Hidalgo, bajo la dirección de Hernán, apareció en escenarios icónicos, compartiendo con artistas famosos como "Los Tigres del Norte", "Gregorio Pernía (El TITI)", Andrew Schulz y muchos más.Su presencia melódica llenó los pasillos del Madison Square Garden, resonó en Fox News, Telemundo y adornó las páginas de revistas y escenarios de películas, dejando una huella imborrable en la escena del Mariachi.
Como músico de primera generación y mexicano nacido en el corazón de la ciudad de Nueva York, Hernán enfrentó desafíos y adversidades únicos.
